![]() What is a DJ? Disc Jockey? Do we even use discs anymore? Who or what is a jockey? Original dance tunes from Hip Hop to Disco consisted of the vocalist/MC, the DJ and a dope beat. Today's generation has no idea what the previous sentence is about. This generation knows about auto-tune and the Nae-Nae & Hit the Quan! Every now and then we can get a dope beat from our #EDM masters #Diplo, #Skrillex, #JackU, Swedish House Mafia and the like! But we sat down with #AnthemKingz very own DJ Frank Nice to see music from the heart of the DJ. Here is how the conversation went:
2. How do you think political views affect the music industry? I think politics weights in heavy on the music industry; Music has become the voice of expression & if you pay attention a bit more, you can feel what the artist is trying to explain. Political views are reflected in their music. 3. What inspired you to become a D.J.? What would have been your second professional choice? Many things inspired me, from attending block parties to watching videos on TV to even having my friends over & we’d make lip sinking music videos. I was curious on how the DJ controlled crowds of people with just two turntables, one mixer & one mic. My second professional choice would have been a sound engineer. 4. How does your music impact your everyday life? My music impacts my everyday life a great deal, I eat, sleep & breath music. I’m either in the studio creating remixes or new music with my brothers (Anthem Kingz), or performing at concerts & festivals. I constantly travel to my locations in & out of the US. Music is pretty much in every aspect of my life. 5. Where does faith fit in with your success? Explain. Faith fits in real nicely because you have to have faith in yourself to do what you do. You can & will fall down at times but faith in yourself brings you up. Faith in God is the reason you are who you are. 6. Who do you turn to for advice? If I need advice, I turn to a colleague of mine, by the name of DJ Rivs who has much to do with why I started DJ'ing decades ago. 7. Why is the art of music a necessity? The art of music is a necessity because creativity is important & having skill is very important to your Performance so for me, the art is separation from others in your field of expertise. 8. Does going to a music engineering school (or the like) help navigate through the red tape in the music industry? Going to school can help you in some ways because you would be more prepared for today's world much better than just being hands on. You would have the skill to create your own, you would have more independence & that alone will get you through the red tape. 9. How does today's musical artist differ from musical artists 20 years ago? Today’s music is very different from 20 years ago. Technology plays a big part, advance skills also plays a big part however there was better music 20 years ago, the only thing different that this day & age has over back then are the DJs. Catch DJ Frank Nice on the 1's and 2's in Orlando, UK and the US. #PayAttention #SmashtheHouse #AnthemKingz #Soundview #NewZipcodeStillBXTho KKDT
