Jamaican performer Marion Hall, also known as Lady Saw, has turned a new chapter in her life, and now she goes by the name of Minister Marion Hall. She made her religious transformation in December 2015.
“I realize my calling is to minister to broken women,” said Hall in a recent interview. “So, I made a song for women who have been raped, or forced into prostitution or illegal drug use, but somehow, they are still standing here today. I am a victim of rape, and Jesus took me through it. I was battered and bruised. I could have been dead, but I am still standing here today.” Currently, Hall’s new Gospel single" I Had Jesus", a song dedicated to all women who have been mentally and physically abused, is helping to inspire women that have been broken. And on the eighth of July, Hall will be releasing “ When God Speaks”, an album she hopes will touch many people. Minister Marion Hall was born in Galina, a district in the parish of Saint Mary, where she was a tomboy, and whatever the boys were doing; they had to contend with her as a competitor. Hall started out from a very humble beginning, and as a result, she earned her keep way before any child is supposed to. To help make ends meet, Hall sold food and homemade artifacts to tourists on the roadside, and at the age of 15, she named herself Lady Saw, after the famous Jamaican DJ Tenor Saw, whose style she emulated. Now she is recognized as the first Jamaican female DJ to win a Grammy Award, and also for being a certified triple-platinum artist.
